Keeping you up to date with the all the latest work from students, staff, and graduates of the programme, and highlighting the best work & events for 3D Designers from around the world.
Kira Meyer, a graduate of the Three Dimensional Design Course in 2012, recently won the televised Monty Don’s Real Craft show.
Kira was selected as one of three glassmakers alongside Bee Hardy and James Alexander to undertake a series of projects that developed and tested their creative craft skills in glass. The ultimate task was to produce a chandelier for a boutique hotel, which Kira went on to win!
Kira is presently studying for her Masters here at Manchester School of Art, and whilst she was a student on the 3DD programme she was selected as part of Rising Stars. During her undergraduate study Kira made good connections with St Helen’s World of Glass (where she later worked following her graduation), and she was proactive in initiating and organising her work experience at the Peter Layton’s Glassblowing studio in London. Whilst there she was able to work with renowned glassmaker Louis Thompson who won the Jerwood Maker’s prize in 2012.
These experiences supported and developed Kira’s glass skill and passion for the material.
